If you are concerned about the environment, know that burning vinyl causes toxic fume to be released in the atmosphere. However, it is still very popular today and is very inexpensive.
If you choose steel siding then you have a thick and durable one. It is also resistant to fire and water. If you have steel siding, you have something that does not burn and does not get dented. It does not require much miantenance. However, steel is more expensive that the rest. It is double the price of vinyl and difficult to work with.
